WSID — Where Things Stand

It’s been a while since the last update here; much longer than we’d have liked honestly. Some of that gap was, fittingly, technical: the blog itself went down for a stretch, which meant the one place we’d usually post about progress was the thing that needed fixing first. That’s sorted now (hopefully?) which is part of why you’re reading this.

We also had some personnel changes and hired a QA tester to find a bunch of bugs that were resolved.

The WSID Update: A Full Clarity Pass on the Platform

If “clarity over noise” is the whole point of WSID, it needed to be true of WSID’s own pages, not just the questions people post. So we went through the entire experience – the homepage, the About page, sign-up and login – and essentially rebuilt it from the ground up:

  • Redesigned just about every feature and every page within WSID
  • Consistent navigation and footer across every page
  • A real mobile experience (not just a shrunk-down desktop version)
  • A visual language that’s actually the same from page to page instead of drifting the further you go

We also built out dedicated pages putting WSID head-to-head with the platforms people already compare it to mentally – what WSID actually does differently from a place like Reddit or Quora, laid out plainly rather than left for people to guess at. If you want the fuller picture of what WSID actually is, the About page covers that directly.

None of this is the flashy part of building a product. It’s the part that determines whether the flashy part ever gets a fair look.

What’s Next

The plan from here is straightforward: keep building toward a real launch, and put WSID in front of real people the right way – deliberately, in one place first, rather than everywhere at once. That rollout is aimed at when people are actually back around and paying attention, not just whenever we happen to be ready. More on that when there’s more to share.

That’s the honest state of things: quiet for a while, moving the whole time, and closer than the silence made it look. Who knows. Maybe we’ll update how this blog looks one day. 😝

Stay tuned!
